Hopefully it won't be as meaningless as the Cyrix ratings, since their
FPU sucked badly, the only thing that was as good as the Intels was
the integer unit.
And you'll still get people moaning about the relative ratings, saying
that whatever is being used as a benchmark isn't optimised properly
for blah blah PIV/3dNow/Altivec.

The nice thing about the G5 is the 64bitness of it and it supposed to
be able to run 32bit code at full speed (although I don't know if that
would require re-compiling programs). Would make a good upgrade path
from OS4 to OS5 (which IYRC is supposed to be 64bit only). So we'd
have a 64 bit CPU now while AMD is hacking around with the claw end of
a hammer ;)
